Things to know about a camlock system
What is a Camlock system?
A Camlock / Kamlock system is a quick-change system that is particularly popular in industry. For applications with frequent hose changes are also excellent. Many IBC containers are already equipped with a Camlock valve ex works.
What is the difference to a "normal valve"?
A Camlock valve does not have the standard S60x6 coarse thread at the outlet, but a 2 1/8" fine thread (outer diameter approx. 64mm / 2.52"). However, the difference to a normal 2" fine thread is not visible to the naked eye.
Behind this fine thread there is an indentation. You can easily clamp a female coupling onto this indentation and do not have to screw anything. The Camlock system is especially known for this quick and uncomplicated assembly.
The quick-change system is basically made up of a female coupling (see illustration on the left) and male coupling (see illustration on the right). These two individual parts simply have to have the same dimensions. By plugging the two couplings together and tightening the levers of the female coupling, you obtain a tight connection without the need for screwing.
the problem with the 2 1/8" fine thread
As mentioned above, a Camlock valve has a 2 1/8" (2.125") fine thread. However, the difference between this and a 2" fine thread is very difficult to see, even with a caliper gauge the difference is marginal. For this reason it is often assumed that it is a common 2" fine thread and consequently the wrong adapter is purchased, which is not compatible with a Camlock valve.
If you now want to adapt from a 2 1/8" fine thread to the standard coarse thread S60x6, we recommend our IBC adapter especially for Camlock valves:

Or alternative our female coupling, which you only need to clamp onto the valve:
