Due to their versatile use and their capacity of up to 1,000 liters, they are used in industrial, commercial and private applications. IBC lids help to increase the functionality of the containers and protect the stored goods from contamination.
The lids close the filling opening of the IBC tank as standard and are available in different sizes and designs, optionally even with practical overfill protection or integrated venting. The lids can also be extended with other connections such as an IBC inlet or IBC lid filter.
Container lids protect the stored goods
IBCs are mainly used for storing liquids in agriculture and for private rainwater harvesting. The water tanks are robust, frost-proof and very weather-resistant, making them ideal for outdoor use. The containers are usually filled from above via the filler opening.
A suitable lid is essential so that an IBC tank can be used in a variety of ways. If an intermediate bulk container is used as a rain barrel, a screw cap ensures that the collected water and the tank bladder remain clean. A suitable screw cap can also be easily fitted to the filler opening. In addition to conventional lids, there are also special container lids with an integrated vent valve or a quick-release coupling for secure connection of hoses.
IBC lids in different sizes
Just as there are IBC adapters with different dimensions for external and internal threads, the container lids also come in different sizes. In order to optimally protect the liquid stored in the tank, it is necessary to buy an IBC lid in the right size. The dimensions required vary depending on the diameter of the filling opening. The most common sizes are DN 150 and DN 225.
IBC lid with overfill protection
If you want to regulate the fill level in the rainwater tank automatically, you should choose a lid with overfill protection: These prevent a certain fill level in the water tank from being exceeded. Even in pouring rain, the rainwater tank cannot overflow. For lids with overfill protection, a float is used to set the maximum fill level in the container. Once the maximum level is reached, the lid valve closes automatically and no more liquid enters the tank bladder.
Lid filter
Basically, an IBC container with a lid is well protected against coarse contamination. However, small particles of dirt and suspended matter still get into the container from time to time and, over time, cause both the tank and the tank contents to become contaminated. A precisely fitting lid filter provides a quick remedy here. It retains fine impurities and thus sustainably improves the quality of the stored liquid. A filter is even useful when collecting rainwater, as it protects the tank bladder and pipes from dirt in the long term.
Cover inlet
A lid inlet is used for safe filling. This means that rainwater can easily be fed from the gutter or downpipe into the tank bladder via a cover inlet with HT pipe. A connection to rainwater collectors is also possible. This creates a closed system into which no dirt can penetrate. A lid with inlet is fitted to the top filler neck of the tank via the thread in the same way as a conventional container lid.
