Further, interesting application options

There are an enormous number of applications for IBC containers besides typical rainwater storage or food storage.

IBC as exhibition stand, room divider, decoration or DJ desk

Often, IBC containers are also converted into trade fair stands, used for room partitions or serve as privacy screens or decoration. Due to their cubic shape, they are not only practical to use, but also create a particularly industrial atmosphere.

At party locations and events, IBC tanks are especially popular as DJ desks, tables or counters thanks to their industrial design and provide a special eye-catcher. Also for movies and theaters IBC containers are often used as industrial decoration. IBC containers have also been used several times by our customers as privacy screens or obstacles in paintball or laser tag arenas.

IBC as ballasting

In addition to storing liquids, IBC tanks are also particularly practical as ballast, weights or counterweights in connection with building structures or stage construction. Their space-saving shape and the under-ride pallet allow flexible use. With a weight of 1000 kg you can realize a high counterweight. A new tank filled with water can be stacked up to 4-high. Learn more about stacking height and stacking weight HERE.

IBC grid box for storage of wood

The individual basic elements of an IBC container can also function excellently independently. For example, the grid box or the steel tube frame. This is mounted on a pallet and serves as protection of the IBC inner container against external impacts.

In addition to the protective function, a grid box also serves best as a storage container for the wood stock. In addition to storing wood, you can of course also store, for example, spare parts or packaging materials. To do this, you only need to disassemble the struts on the top of the IBC container and then remove the IBC inner container from the grid box.

Aquaponics, Barrelponics und Hydroponics

Hydroponic is a technique for growing plants based on water instead of soil as usual. Here, the plants, such as tomatoes or strawberries, usually grow up in a container filled with gravel or expanded clay.

The second important term is aquaculture. Aquaculture is the cultivation of, for example, fish, algae or mussels in open ponds, separated areas or even in containers.

If hydroponics and aquaculture are now combined, the term aquaponic is created. This term describes the cultivation of plants by means of fish farming in a closed system. As the fish are fed by humans, the plants are in turn fed by the excreta of the fish. Furthermore, the plants clean the water and the fish are provided with additional nutrients.

Barrelponic describes an aquaponic system in a sealed barrel. This means that the circulation system is not affected by any external substances. IBC containers are excellent for this circulatory system. It only has to be disassembled into two parts. The upper part is the plant bed and the lower part is filled with water. Nowadays, you can also find ready-built IBC raised beds in stores.
